“Weird Moons Over Uppsala”, the first and last full-length of Southern Spruce, is an eccentric outsider concept rock album based on personal experiences, anecdotes, stories and memories, exuberant recollections of youth from an environment saturated in drugs, madness, naive art and spiritual reactionism as well an obsessive necromania – but also of great friendship and love and self-becoming, introspection and adventure. all these little stories are from the heyday of the End Commune, as experienced by the band members in our hometown of Uppsala and various other places in Uppland province between ca 2010 and 2016.
We consider it a farewell album from the End Commune, as well as an homage to it. all stories and events depicted in the lyrics of these tracks are completely based on truth as it unfolded in our lives. nothing about this is lie or fiction or even really exaggerative, and that in itself, the authenticity aspect, is a great prime mover and force of meaning behind this album.

Southern Spruce existed briefly in 2016-2017 as a side project of Slutet, later abandoned in favor of working on the “Jihad” EP (2017). it got revived after the demise of Slutet, and existed chiefly between circa october 2020 and december 2022. this full length was recorded in december 2022 but we didnt manage to have it put out before years end because of sickness and other factors – only technically is this a 2023 album. and this is the final major blow from The End Commune (2012-2022).
this LP is dedicated to the spirits of Tim, Malin, Olof and Ingrid.
